So, many of you may know that we’re expecting a baby soon…like, REALLY soon (more on that later). A GIRL. I can’t explain how excited I am about this. We won’t be having any more children after this, so the fact that we will have a girl and a boy makes me feel very lucky. Plus, let’s be real…dressing a girl is SO.MUCH.FUN.
While I’m not a girly girl by any means — I do like pink, tea parties, unicorns, make up and glitter. However raising a girl has me worried about all this princess-obsessed, pink vomit overload that I see perpetuated in the media, on the shelves, and even on Ev’s little lady friends. I know as a parent it’s hard to escape a lot of this (trust me, we have given in to having CARS™ and AVENGERS™ apparel and toys around the house)… sometimes kids are hard-wired to like this stuff, sometimes it’s just easier to “give in”.
That’s why I was so excited to learn about GoldieBlox. I know this (brilliant) ad is making it’s way around social media, and I’m more than happy to do my part to share it. In fact, I purchased my first GoldieBlox kit for my niece today. I hope you will support this awesome inventor, and her overall cause of getting girls to be inventors, builders, dreamers and SPITFIREGIRLS!…not just princesses!
PS: This is not a sponsored post…I just have a newfound fascination with founder Debbie Sterling and her quest! You can read more about how GoldieBlox came to be here:
