As working moms, you’d think Heidi & I would spend hours discussing whether women can have it all. Not really. We’re busy trying to do good work and raise good kids, so we usually talk about that (and about House of Cards). And, as working moms, when we talk we know the shorthand. A bad nap on a day you’re working from home? Chaos. Daycare closed for Pulaski Day (I’m looking at you, Chicago)? Potential disaster. Realizing your tot spit up all down your back just as you walk into that client meeting? Heinous. Heidi jokingly calls it the “juggle & hustle.” She nailed it. There’s a certain magic, and comedy, to the chaos that makes it all worthwhile, ten fold.
Our conversations made us want to share that sisterhood of with all of you, too. As we were brainstorming how to do it, Heidi sent me this:
That’s right. It’s Beyoncé’s Run The World (Girls). The message, the beat…it’s empowering and awesome. Heidi sent it to help set the tone we should use when talking about moms working in creative fields (which now includes the divine Mrs. Carter). We should all revel in that rocking & ruling the world thing more, right?
In the spirit of that revelry, we’re thrilled to introduce The SpitfireMom Society, a bi-weekly feature on a kickass mom who also is a kickass entrepreneur. In each post, we’ll ask her what she does and how she does it.
Just what makes someone a part of the The SpitfireMom Society?
She’s an inspired business woman fueled by equal parts verve and determination. Authentic, uncompromising, spirited, and fun. SpitfireMoms know that having it all isn’t the end all be all. It’s about embracing that juggle & hustle. We’re so excited to introduce this community of rad moms to you!
Our first post will be up next Monday, April 22. You’ll definitely want to check back to see who we feature.
