Autumn is my most favorite season. I love everything about it: impossibly blue skies, the yellow Aspen leaves here in Colorado, chrysanthemums everywhere you look, pumpkins. Yes, I’m a pumpkin lover. My birthday is in October so I think it comes with the territory. Libras and Scorpios must love pumpkins. I’m one of those ridiculous saps who nearly cries when Starbucks brings back the pumpkin spice latte every September (and don’t talk to me about all the weird chemicals and non-pumpkiny things that are in a PSL – for I do not care). My perfect day would include seeing my sweet boys’ faces on a hike through Maroon Bells near Aspen, magically and improbably having fun together without an ounce of fighting or whining, sipping that famed pumpkin spice latte, holding hands with my husband, wearing my most comfortable pair of jeans with a cozy coat that I can slip off when the sun gets too warm for it. And afterwards there would be a fire and red wine. Yes.
Snapping out of my daydream…every year my grandma sends my cousins and me a little spending money for our birthdays. I always have it spent in my mind 20 times over long before I receive it. This year I’m thinking a nice new tote, a comfortable and stylish pair of boots, a new everyday go-to necklace, a casual coat. Decisions, decisions. Here is what’s inspiring my updates for autumn.
Ever since we featured Lee Clifford and Julie Schlosser of Altruette as SpitfireMoms, I’ve been obsessed with their Kay Necklace. For those unfamiliar with the company, Altruette donates 50% of their net profits from the sale of their charms goes toward their charity partners. For instance, the Key charm above benefits the National Women’s History Museum and the Globe charm benefits Global Giving (an added feature – the globe opens so you can store a teeny tiny treasure inside).
My personal style is casual and comfortable, so these boots and jacket are right up my alley. Nothing fussy or complicated, just stylish yet comfy.
As for bags, I’m the type who could look at purses, totes, shoulder bags, and messengers for hours, yet never be able to decide on one. It’s a problem, and it’s why I’m lugging around a pleather bag from Target I picked up a couple years ago after a pen exploded inside my pretty Banana Republic work tote. Perhaps this season I can actually pull the trigger! I’ve been ogling Michael Kors’ collection lately. If I got that Camo Chic bag my boys just might commandeer it for themselves.
And for anyone wondering, my grandma does not send me $5,000, so I’ll likely end up with some choice outlet purchases. But a girl can dream, right?
